King Charles III is set to resume his regal duties one week from now following disease treatment, Buckingham Royal residents announced Friday. The ruler enjoyed some time off from public appearances almost three months prior after he was diagnosed with an undisclosed kind of malignant growth while undergoing treatment for an enlarged prostate.
According to the Palace, Charles will make the first of several public appearances on Tuesday at a Cancer Treatment Center, where he and Queen Camilla will meet with patients and medical professionals. Another significant commitment on his agenda will be a state visit by the ruler and Sovereign of Japan in June.
In a statement shared on social media along with a new picture of Charles and Camilla, the palace expressed gratitude for the kindnesses and good wishes they’ve received from around the world throughout the past year’s joys and challenges. The statement came as the first anniversary of the coronation approached.
Although the medical team is encouraged by the progress made so far and remains positive about the king’s continued recovery, the palace did not provide a specific update on his health. In January, the 75-year-old king had undergone treatment for an enlarged prostate, which the palace claimed was not cancerous. However, a separate issue of concern was noted during the treatment, and a type of cancer was found through subsequent diagnostic procedures.
According to Buckingham Palace at the time, Charles had commenced a schedule of regular treatments and would postpone public-facing duties during those treatments. He would continue with his authority business and office function.
In a statement, he further added, “It is equally heartening to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding and shine a spotlight on the work of all those organizations that support cancer patients and their families across the UK and the wider world.”
Charles additionally returned to the public eye at the Easter Sunday service in Windsor last month.
The Lord isn’t the only member of the English Imperial family undergoing disease treatment. Catherine, the Princess of Ribs and spouse to Ruler William, also revealed that she had been diagnosed with an undefined disease and was undergoing treatment. Kate’s announcement in her video message led to a global outpouring of sympathy, though she didn’t specify the type of disease or share additional details about her diagnosis. She stated, “This obviously came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing our very best to process and deal with this privately for our young family.”
