Prince William and Princess Kate have a tough decision to make about Trooping the Colour

“The kids probably love it and it’s probably a real treat for them. You can imagine how much they’d love it,” says royal biographer Ingrid Seward.

Trooping the Colour is an event the Wales children enjoy, but it’s not clear if they will be attending this year, according to royal biographer Ingrid Seward.

Typically, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis arrive in a carriage with their mother, Princess Kate.

But, if Kate isn’t going this year, and Prince William is arriving on horseback, it’s predicted the children may skip the celebration.

Ms Seward, author of The Queen and Di and My Mother and I, told Newsweek: “It might be ‘you should stay behind with mummy,’ mightn’t it, really?”

She added: “William will be on horseback so there just won’t be a carriage. I don’t think the kids will appear without her.

Trooping the Colour is an annual event, taking place on a Saturday in June, to celebrate the sovereign’s birthday.

This year’s King’s Birthday Parade will take pace on Saturday, June 15, kicking off at approximately 10.20am.

The parade will consist of 1,400 officers and soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians marching in honour of King Charles, who is expected to attend, but will not be on horseback.

The Princess of Wales is taking a break from public-facing duties as she continues undergoing treatment following a cancer diagnosis.

In a statement last month, she explained how the cancer was found following abdomen surgery in January.

She said: “Tests after the operation found cancer had been present.

“My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”
