Prince William and Princess Kate left ‘shocked and saddened’ following tragedy in Sydney

Following the tragic stabbings in Sydney on Saturday, Prince William and Princess Catherine expressed their shock and sadness.

Six people have now died as a result of the horrifying incident, which happened at a Westfield shopping center in Bondi Junction. A nine-month-old infant has also had surgery. An officer shot and killed a 40-year-old man at the scene.

On their official social media accounts, the Prince and Princess of Wales released a joint statement after the ordeal that said, “We are shocked and saddened by the terrible events in Sydney earlier today.”

“We are thinking of everyone who is impacted, especially the families of the deceased and the brave first responders who put their own lives in danger to save others. “W & C” was how they signed their initials on the message.

In addition to the victims already mentioned, the BBC reports that eight individuals, including the infant, are receiving medical attention in a hospital for their wounds. The baby’s mother tragically passed away in a hospital from the wounds she received during the attack.

With the shocking cancer news that she revealed in March, this is the first time Princess Catherine has spoken to the public.

After undergoing abdominal surgery in January, the 42-year-old Princess made a heartfelt video address to the public, revealing that she is currently receiving preventative cancer treatment.

She begged for privacy from the public during the tearful speech, especially for the benefit of her three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 4, who are currently spending Easter vacations at home.

Prince William has been spotted twice over the Easter break since Catherine’s health bombshell. The first time was during a rumored outing with his mother-in-law, Carole Middleton, who is reportedly spending the holiday with her daughter and family.

The second was on Thursday night, when he went to a football game to watch Aston Villa play with his son Prince George.

In light of the tragic events, King Charles and Queen Camilla also released a statement shortly after William and Catherine did.

The following message was posted on their official social media accounts as well: “My wife and I were horrified and completely shocked to learn about the tragic stabbing incident that occurred in Bondi.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those who were senselessly attacked and brutally killed.

We are grateful for the bravery of the first responders and emergency services, and while details of these horrific events are still developing, our thoughts are with those who participated in the response.”
